INTERACTIVE WORLD ATLAS

Explore the world.

23.5° N
AUTO ROTATING · DRAG TO EXPLORE · SCROLL TO ZOOM

SIDE BY SIDE · NO SCOREKEEPING

Compare two
different worlds.

Aligned measures and shared scales reveal the distance between countries without reducing either one to a winner.

THE WORLD · AT A GLANCE

One planet,
8 billion stories.

A compact global reading assembled from the same normalized data layer used throughout WorldScope.

METHODOLOGY · SOURCES

Data with
its context intact.

WorldScope keeps source, reporting year, and definitions beside the numbers—and leaves blanks where evidence is unavailable.

01

Numbers are not timeless.

Different indicators are reported on different schedules. Every metric retains its own observation year; the interface never silently presents mixed-year data as a single snapshot.

02

Primary sources

World Bank Open Data supplies population, GDP, urbanization, age structure, life expectancy, and fertility series. REST Countries supplies names, capitals, flags, currencies, regions, and coordinates.

03

Nominal ≠ PPP

Nominal GDP uses current market exchange rates. Purchasing power parity adjusts for differences in local price levels. Both describe useful—but different—economic views.

04

No invented values

If a source has no observation, WorldScope says “Data unavailable.” Detailed population pyramids require age-by-sex bins that the current public layer does not infer from broad age shares.

05

Cache & resilience

Successful requests are cached on this device for 24 hours. The atlas falls back to a small navigable country index and preserves honest unavailable states when a provider cannot be reached.

06

Accessible by design

Keyboard controls, visible focus, text labels, optional patterns, reduced-motion support, and table alternatives keep the atlas useful beyond color and pointer input.

DATA INFORMATION

Sources & definitions

World Bank Open Data

Population, density, GDP, purchasing-power parity, urbanization, age structure, life expectancy, and fertility. Each statistic retains its reporting year.

REST Countries

Country names, flags, capitals, currencies, regions, land area, coordinates, and the complete searchable country index.

Natural Earth

Country boundary geometry for globe and flat-map rendering. Small territories without visible polygons remain searchable and selectable by location.

Missing observations

WorldScope never estimates an unavailable statistic. The interface displays “Data unavailable” instead.
